This study further builds on previous research by the institute about how to improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and public transportation users, specifically in Houston's Gulfton neighborhood.
Though more than 300 surveyed residents and workers in the Gulfton area, the report was able to draw conclusions to how members of the Gulfton community get around the area, highlighting problem areas where proper infrastructure lacks and various safety concerns, whether it's relating to crime or vehicular accidents with pedestrians and cyclists.
It also dovetails with local organizations' efforts to improve street safety and address mobility issues. The findings provide a more in-depth understanding of critical transportation safety issues, highlight what areas residents see as key issues and can be used to prioritize street safety improvements.
