Three years have passed since Hurricane Harvey, which sparked the launch of the Texas Flood Registry (originally the Hurricane Harvey Registry) to measure the impact of major storms and repeated flooding events. In February 2019, the Children’s Environmental Health Initiative shared a preliminary report on the first 9,798 registrants. As of April 2020, over 20,000 community members have joined the registry.
Investigators share findings from the 2020 Texas Flood Registry Report, which includes updates on Hurricane Harvey’s long-term impact and recent findings about the health and housing effects of the May 2019 storms and Tropical Storm Imelda. A panel discussion follows.
