Report Cover for the Civic Health Index Report

Commissioned by Houston Endowment, this study examines the state of civic health in Greater Houston (the Houston MSA) to better understand civic attitudes and behaviors as well as political participation.

Civic health refers to the way that communities are organized to define and address public problems. Communities with strong indicators of civic health have higher employment rates, stronger schools, better physical health and more responsive governments. This study analyzes the civic health of the Greater Houston area through three dimensions of civic health—social connectedness, civic involvement and political participation.
