The United Way of Greater Houston’s Integrated Client Journey (ICJ) supports individuals taking steps toward financial stability. Instead of addressing clients' needs separately, the program connects them with a network of service providers to streamline access and provide a more holistic approach with the help of a Navigator. A critical concept is "readiness." The ICJ attempts to distinguish between clients with immediate needs and those who have the capacity for a long-term path toward sustained success.
Program evaluation
Using ICJ data, the Kinder Institute is conducting an analysis to improve United Way's understanding of:
- The characteristics predictive of a person being defined or misclassified as “ready”
- If an individual’s readiness can predict early success in achieving milestones
- What contributes to successful engagement with Navigators
Results from the study will inform United Way’s investment strategies around Navigators and the ICJ. It will also refine programmatic practices for Navigators determining an individual’s “ready” status.
