2024 State of Housing

This webinar will focus on findings from the 2024 State of Housing in Harris County and Houston report. A panel discussion with local experts will follow.

Nearly 8 in 10 Houston residents believe owning a home is a good way to build wealth. Yet actual homeownership rates in the Houston region have been in decline since the early 2000s, with increasing costs cited as the main hindering factor. This webinar coincides with the release of the Kinder Institute's 2024 State of Housing report, which explores the implications of increasing homeownership costs in the region.

Panelists

  • Allison Hay, Chief Executive Officer, Houston Habitat for Humanity
  • Michael C. Nichols, Director of Housing & Community Development, City of Houston
  • Christa D. Stoneham, Chief Executive Officer & President, Houston Land Bank

The 2024 report and webinar are made possible with lead funding by Wells Fargo. Previous State of Housing reports have tracked various housing indicators and captured the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the local housing market.
