In 2019, the Kinder Institute produced material on a variety of subjects, from the effectiveness of a rent subsidy program and the obstacles many of Houston's small manufacturing businesses face, to the quality of infrastructure such as streets, bikeways and sidewalks and its impact on residents’ safety and mobility. Research from the Kinder Institute’s Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC) included an assessment of college advising needs among high school students and a study that revealed the benefits of arts education.

In collaboration with Greater Houston Community Foundation, the institute launched the Understanding Houston platform, which holds more than 200 visual indicators on key topics affecting the quality of life of Houstonians.

The popularity of the Kinder Institute Forums, the institute’s signature lecture series that brings thought leaders from around the world to Houston, deepened the institute's brand and extended its reach into new communities.
