Xiao Li is a postdoctoral researcher at Texas A&M Transportation Institute. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 with his Ph.D. degree in Geography. His research lies at the intersection of Geographic Information Science (GIS), Spatial Data Science, and Geospatial Engineering. He has a diverse and interdisciplinary background in transportation research. Dr. Li has participated in multiple projects sponsored by NCHRP, USDOT, FHWA Safety, University Transportation Centers (UTC). His research interests also include Geospatial Machine Learning in crash analysis, imagery analysis for transportation facilities detection, and individualized traffic safety estimation through mobile data mining. He is a member of the TRB standing committee on Geographic Information Science. As a Kinder Scholar, Xiao will explore how to leverage connected vehicle data to advance the understanding of traffic risks in urban areas.
