Travis Young is a Ph.D. candidate and National Science Foundation graduate research fellow in the departments of geography and demography at The Pennsylvania State University. His dissertation research examines the connections among housing policy, housing market dynamics, and hazard risk in the Houston-Galveston region. As a Kinder Scholar, he will be conducting interviews with renters and homeowners, community and housing advocates, government officials, and real estate professionals, focusing on the distribution of subsidized housing options, the impact of risk perceptions in residential mobility, and the uneven development of vulnerability across the Houston metropolitan statistical area.
