Rose Rougeau provides leadership for internal/external communication for the Kinder Institute for Urban Research. This encompasses public relations, marketing, editorial, events, digital/social media and collateral development. She joined the Kinder Institute in November 2017 as its first director of communication.

Rougeau, an award-winning communicator, has delivered results for a spectrum of industries including energy, chemical, education, travel and arts and culture. Prior to joining Rice, she served as vice president of communication and audience engagement for Asia Society Texas Center. Rougeau devised media strategy for high-level regulatory issues for Fortune 500 clients for a Washington, D.C., public affairs firm, as well as, brand strategy around a high profile Supreme Court case. She served as senior media advisor and chief spokesperson for AAA in Texas, an organization with over 1 million members, where she was a highly sought after expert on energy and safety-related issues. She created, executed and managed what is still considered “the most successful promotion in the organization’s 100-plus year history.” Rougeau has written and published articles in top-tier media including the Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle and Forbes. A native Houstonian, Rougeau began her career in television news at the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City and later returned to Houston to join KTRK-TV (ABC).

Rougeau believes that it does not take much for each of us to make a positive impact on another’s life in our own individual way. Her guiding principle is “to those whom much is given, much is expected.”
