Head shot of Kiara Douds
  • Kinder Scholar
  • Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Sociology, New York University

As a Kinder Scholar, graduate student Kiara Douds will be conducting an in-depth interview study in Fort Bend County (Texas) that focuses on how whites, blacks, Hispanics and Asians think about the ways in which different individuals and groups become economically successful in American society. The high diversity of the Houston region – and Fort Bend County in particular – makes it a unique research site to investigate understandings of success and inequality in 21st century American society.
