John Bradshaw Jr. heads Rice University's Kinder Institute for Urban Research's fundraising efforts among individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations. A native of Houston, he joined Rice University in 2015 with more than a decade in nonprofit development. Prior to Rice, John was with Asia Society Texas, having served as the organization’s acting executive director, deputy director and senior director of development. He earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in history from the University of Southern California. During his 15 years on the west coast, he began a successful career in nonprofit fundraising and was awarded New Development Professional of the Year in 1997. From 2003 through 2008, he resided in Munich, Germany, working as a writer and editor. He returned to Houston in 2008. He is currently a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, serves as vice chair of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO), and is a committee member with Houston Grand Opera.
