Jeff Shellebarger is the chairman of the organizing committee for the 23rd World Petroleum Congress (WPC) to be held in Houston in December 2020. Shellebarger also serves on the board of the Greater Houston Partnership and is a member of the Kinder Institute Advisory Board.

Shellebarger retired from Chevron in 2019. His last position was president of Chevron’s North America Exploration and Production Company. During his 38-year Chevron career, he also held senior executive positions in Jakarta and Sumatra, Indonesia; Luanda, Angola; and Bakersfield, California.

Shellebarger holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from the University of Georgia, where he was also honored as a distinguished graduate school alumni.

Shellebarger served as past Chairman of both the Greater Houston Partnership and the American Petroleum Institute’s Upstream Committee. He has also served on the boards of the Greater Houston United Way and the Houston Museum of Natural Science and is also a past recipient of the World Affairs Council’s Jesse H. Jones Award, recognizing him as the international citizen of the year.

Shellebarger has been a member of the Kinder Institute Advisory Board since 2018.
