Neighborhoods and Children's Food Insecurity Project

This project is funded by a grant from the Department of Agriculture through the University of Kentucky Center for Poverty Research and seeks to assess the contribution of neighborhood social environments to child food insecurity.  With more than 20% of children in the U.S. living in food insecure households, but little understanding of why and how children end up in this state, it is more important than ever to understand the determinants of food insecurity.  Very little prior work has examined whether and how neighborhood environments contribute to child food insecurity.
