Albert Pope is an architect in Houston as well as the Gus Sessions Wortham Professor of Architecture at Rice University.  He is also the founding director of Present Future, a design program and think tank at Rice University’s School of Architecture.

His work takes up the logic of contemporary urban form and its decisive role in shaping social and environmental contexts. He is currently engaged in research on carbon neutral urban development producing large scale planning projects for Houston and Detroit. 

Pope received his master’s of architecture from Princeton University and his bachelor’s in architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Pope has lectured, exhibited and written extensively. He is the author of Ladders and has won both local and national design awards.
