Katherine Ensor is a professor of statistics in Rice University’s School of Engineering, as well as the founding director of the Center for Computational Finance and Economic Systems. She is also the director of the Kinder Institute's Urban Data Platform.

Ensor works on the theoretical development of statistical methods for practical problems, with a focus on environmental and financial statistics. Her areas of interest include risk management, spatial-temporal methods and spatial statistics, among others. Her recent work has looked at heart attack incidence and air quality levels in Houston as well as a model-based approach for clustering air quality monitoring networks in Houston.

She received her Ph.D. in statistics from Texas A&M University in 1986 and both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mathematics from Arkansas State University in 1981 and 1982 respectively. View full CV.
