Houston Community Data Connections (HCDC)

Mission 

HCDC seeks to facilitate the practical use of data by city and community leaders for decision-making and capacity building in Houston's disadvantaged communities.

Through the support of the Houston Endowment, the Kinder Institute for Urban Research now serves as a local data intermediary and HCDC will provide the following data and research services to the community:

  • Access to a robust online dashboard ( www.datahouston.orgthat provides multipurpose community profiles with a wide array of neighborhood-level indicators highlighting disparities and other local issues;
  • Data visualization services that make information more accessible;
  • Data analysis to address community-driven research questions;
  • Consultation on research design;
  • Basic training on how to use data and technology to improve data literacy;
  • Community outreach support to facilitate convenings of our partners.
NNIP We are a member of the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership, which is a collaboration between the Urban Institute and local partners in 30 cities to further the development and use of neighborhood-level information systems for community building and local decision-making.  

HCDC is supported by the Houston Endowment, a private philanthropic institution that works across the community for the benefit of the people of greater Houston.
